Born and raised in southern California, Dr. Andrew Chon enjoyed the warm weather, cool beaches, and daily fireworks as he grew up right next to Disneyland. He went on to attend his childhood dream school of University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he would receive a bachelor’s degree in Physiological Sciences. Soon thereafter, he attended the University of Pittsburgh where he would receive his DMD degree as well as post doctoral training in Periodontics, dental implants and IV sedation.
Dr. Chon trained under the tutelage of one of the few accredited dental anesthesia programs in the country and can provide IV sedation for dental procedures.
During his studies at University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Chon trained under the guidance and mentorship of a multi-specialty faculty. He became well versed in providing periodontal treatments that include but not limited to soft tissue grafting, bone grafting, sinus augmentation, and full mouth rehabilitation dental implant therapy. Furthermore, Dr. Chon trained under the tutelage of one of the few accredited dental anesthesia programs in the country and can provide IV sedation for dental procedures. IV sedation has been a big part of Dr. Chon’s treatment protocol and nearly all treatments were completed under sedation.
Before joining Columbia Center, Dr. Chon was working in Florida for the past 2 years in private practice. He is excited to be in Columbia, Maryland with his wife, Amy, who he met during dental school and is a dentist herself. They have two small Pomeranians that want constant love and attention. In his spare time, Dr. Chon enjoys watching and playing basketball and football, going to the gym, and spending time with his family and friends.
